Season 1: Death Stranding

After introducing The Gaming Backlog “Book Club” podcast and setting the stage with their favorite and most anticipated games, the hosts kick off Season 1 with Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, stepping into the shoes of Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus) and guiding him on his journey to the west coast of the United Cities of America to unravel the mysteries of the death stranding phenomenon.

Andrew was a huge fan of Hideo Kojima’s games through the Metal Gear Solid franchise, while Alex came in mostly fresh to the quirky intricacies of the auteur, providing two unique perspectives on the start of the Death Stranding series. Death Stranding 2 released June 26, 2025 and hit the world by storm (fortunately not by voidout).
