Season 12: Super Mario World vs. Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Season 12 of The Gaming Backlog “Book Club” podcast is a bit of a switch from the norm since it covers two games at the same time in a friendly competition of sorts: Super Mario World vs. Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Released in the early 90’s, these two games encapsulate everything that make the Mario and Sonic franchises so spectacular, with the fascinating, wild Mario universe that has expanded into almost every video game genre you can imagine, and the incredibly high running speeds of Sonic as he takes on all manner of ne’er-do-wells. They didn’t kick off the most impactful era of console wars without these heavy hitter mascot platformers leading the pack, before eventually becoming friends in the most recent generations.

Join us as we jump, fly, throw fireballs and ride a dinosaur as Mario against Bowser’s Koopa army, then try to keep up as we sprint with Sonic outrun to reach the finish line and stop Dr. Robotnik’s grand scheme.
