Side Quest 1: Hades

Side Quest Season 1 of The Gaming Backlog “Book Club” podcast is about Hades, following Zagreus, the son of Greek God Hades, as he tries to escape the underworld and reach the surface. This video game shifted the perspective on how much depth can be explored in a roguelite story while incorporating the natural process of restarting each run from the beginning.

The sequel Hades II which released in 2025, has also released to mass acclaim as an even stronger evolution of the genre.
